We were appointed to create an event for the Faculty of Arts & Business (FAB), within the overall University of the Sunshine Coast O Week in 2014. Working with the overall event Fiesta theme, we created a FAB O Week Carnivale.  The objective was to create a fun and friendly environment where students could tour the facilities and meet with lecturers, tutors and their new student colleagues in a bright contemporary and relaxed environment.

Working with the Carnivale theme we decorated the atrium with dramatic theatre red curtains, festival lighting and set up a comfortable chill out zone with colourful beanbag seating. We catered with Carnivale favourites including popcorn, fairyfloss and a traditional lemonade and cordial stand and provided an opportunity for students to create their own O Week momento – a personalised candle.

The event was a big hit – and considered a highlight within the university-wide O Week activities – with students really enjoying themselves and reporting that it was a great ice breaker to prepare them for, and ease their nerves over starting university.
