It is with reluctance that a decision has been made to postpone the Buderim Community Carols for 2020.
“While we will miss the community gathering in Buderim Village Park that for many signals the start of the festive season, we are unable to proceed this year,” BWMCA Carols sub-committee chair Andrew Butterworth said.
“The committee has been working hard behind the scenes to investigate options so the event could still go ahead without compromising the community atmosphere but ensuring community safety and compliance with COVID Safe Event Plan guidelines. Unfortunately, it isn’t possible,” Mr Butterworth said.
“It is only the event that is cancelled though, not Christmas, so we encourage everyone to celebrate and remember that Christmas is a time to share with family and friends and reflect on all the good in the world, even after what has been a difficult year for everyone.”
“The BWMCA would like to thank our major sponsor the Buderim Bendigo Community Bank and the Sunshine Coast Council for funding under their grants program, as well as all the performers and other sponsors who had already committed to being involved this year. We look forward to their continued support in 2021.
“We look forward to seeing everyone for a bigger than ever event in 2021 – so put Sunday 12th December 2021 in your calendars now so we can all look forward to it together.”
Mr Butterworth said while the Buderim Carols wouldn’t go ahead this year, they were encouraging their volunteers to get involved with other community activities and were already starting to plan some additional community events for 2021, which of course will include a bigger than ever Buderim Community Carols.
