mooloolaBaBQ Festival to be taste sensation for foodies and families

Thousands are expected to descend on The Wharf Mooloolaba for the second annual mooloolaBaBQ Festival on Saturday 27th January.

Co-hosted by The Wharf Mooloolaba and The Wharf Tavern, the Festival will celebrate everything people in our multi-cultural Australian community love about BBQ and raise money for Give Me 5 For Kids.

The Wharf Tavern venue manager, Terence Lunney said the Festival would excite all the senses with food trucks and tents to temp with cooking styles and flavours from around the world.

“There is something for everyone from great seafood to pork, beef, lamb and chicken whether it be chard, grilled, smoked, roasted, or cooked low & slow – my mouth is watering just thinking about it,” Mr Lunney said.

“We will also be hosting the National Championship Series Barbecue Competition with the Australian Barbecue Alliance where Australia’s best teams will be competing for National Championship Points and $6,000 in cash and prizes.

“There will also be food market stalls, craft beer, celebrity guests and demonstrations, live entertainment, a Kids zone including jumping castle & petting zoo & fireworks to wrap up festivities,” Mr Lunney said.

Mr Lunney said this year there would be more food trucks and tents with each catering for much larger numbers.

The Wharf Mooloolaba co-owner Dirk Long said the Festival was a great opportunity for people to check out the $10million revitalisation that is underway at the precinct. “We completed stage two, with the opening of The Dock Mooloolaba, Rice Boi and Saltwater Fish and Chippery at the beginning of December and work will continue following the Festival,” Mr Long said.

MooloolaBaBQ will run from 10am to 8pm throughout The Wharf Mooloolaba precinct and carpark area. People will also be able to access The Wharf’s restaurants and activities as usual.  Entry to the Festival is just $15 per person, with kids under 12 free.  You can purchase tickets at the gate or online via the Event’s Facebook page – just search for MooloolaBaBQ Festival.

Most of The Wharf Mooloolaba carpark will be closed from Friday 26th January to Sunday 28th at 8am. Event carparks and shuttle buses for Festival goers and visitors to The Wharf Mooloolaba will be available at TAFE Queensland’s Sunshine Coast Campus, 34 Lady Musgrave Drive, Mooloolaba. Shuttle buses will run on Saturday 27th from 10am to 10pm every half hour.
