Community invited to celebrate giving with the Buderim Foundation

Everyone is invited to join in the the spirit of community at the Foundation’s Community Grants Celebration on Saturday, September 9 from 2pm-4pm on the lawn between the Buderim Memorial Hall and the Craft Cottage.

Buderim Foundation Grants committee chair Lisa Edward said this event is the most important day on the Foundation’s calendar so we are planning an extra special celebration.

“This year we are celebrating not only the $65,000 in community grants we are awarding but the more than $400,000 we have been able to gift to Buderim/4556 community organisations in the 10 years since our grants program commenced.

“So, we are raising the bar, making it a special family affair with a strong emphasis on young people – celebrating with family, food and entertainment,” Lisa said.

New 350-seat restaurant and bar the key to next stage of the revitalisation of The Wharf Mooloolaba

A new 500m2 restaurant and bar to be launched in time for Christmas signals the continuation of the revitalisation of The Wharf Mooloolaba precinct, according to Dirk Long, co-owner of Evans Long.

The Dock – At The Wharf – Mooloolaba will be a new restaurant and bar specialising in smoked meats, charcoal grill and quality beer.

“The new 350-seat venue is a key part of our plan to return The Wharf to the bustling recreation, dining and entertainment precinct that it was in its heyday,” Mr Long said.

“Foote-tapping” music coming to Buderim rainforest sanctuary

The beautiful Foote War Memorial Sanctuary in Park Lane Buderim will host a lively concert on Sunday July 30 with food and plant stalls opening at 11am and the music beginning at 12.30pm.

In Buderim’s Foote Sanctuary in preparation for the Foote-Tapping Music Concert on July 30 hosts and performers met to discuss the big day.

The program has been devised by the well-known Buderim singer and concert organiser Bev Gourlay to include vocalists, a choir and instrumental items, all cheekily labelled Foote Tapping.

Sunshine Coast International Readers and Writers Festival just six weeks away

MORE than 100 international, national and regional creatives will converge on Coolum on August 12 and 13 for the 2nd annual Sunshine Coast International Readers and Writers Festival.

The festival runs over two days and one night in five venues including the Coolum Civic Centre and major presentation marquees in the precinct’s Jack Morgan Park.

Grant applications sought as Buderim Foundation’s 2017 program gets underway

The Buderim Foundation’s 2017Community Grants Program gets underway on Friday June 2. Now in its tenth consecutive year, eligible community groups benefitting the Buderim community are encouraged to apply for grants up to $10,000.

Lisa Edward, Chair of the Foundation’s Grants Committee said that this year, successful grant applicants were likely to share a total grant pool of approximately $60,000.

The 2017 grants will be in addition to more than $340,000 already granted to more than 60 community groups since the Foundation’s grants program began in 2008.
