Sunshine Coast families in need, and those affected by domestic violence, will receive vital food and rental assistance thanks to new grants from the Buderim Foundation Thompson Charitable Fund, totaling more than $80,000.
The grants to two local community organisations will be announced today at a morning tea at Courtyard Kitchen in Buderim at 11.00am.
Buderim Foundation Chair Rod McKinnon said the Buderim Foundation Thompson Charitable Fund was proud to be providing further funding to Aus Living Support and Lily House.
“Many in our community are doing it tough in the current economic climate and we are pleased to be able to provide this support to these organisations who do such vital work,” Mr McKinnon said.
The grants details include:

- $36,040 to Lily House to provide support those fleeing domestic violence including food, linen, toys, emergency provisions, and to pay for household utilities and vehicle expenses
“These two organisations provide vital support for those in need in our local community and we are pleased to be able to continue to provide this support from our fund, established by philanthropists Roy and Nola Thompson.
The Buderim Foundation has been the Trustee for the Thompson Charitable Fund since April 2021. Over the past three years, a rolling grants program has provided over $900,000 to support people experiencing homelessness and financial distress on the Sunshine Coast.
Aus Living Support CEO Ian Harrison said the funding would be used to help support people experiencing homelessness to reestablish homes across the coast through the assistance of rental assistance.
“We provide up to $200 a week of rental or mortgage support for families for an initial period of up to three months,” Mr Harrison said.
Lily House Business Manager Jo Higgins said the organisation provided support for women in crisis including those fleeing domestic violence, recovering from substance abuse, young pregnancies and those seeking reunification with their children.
“Lily House provides accommodation and training to women and children who are experiencing some of the worst times of their lives and this grant will help provide additional supports for them,” Ms Higgins said.
The Buderim Foundation is a philanthropic organisation which harnesses the power of giving by generating income from donations and bequests and providing grants for worthwhile community projects. In addition to the Thompson Charitable Fund, the Buderim Foundation runs a separate Community Grants Program supporting projects benefiting the local Buderim area.
