ComLink opens new office in Ipswich

ComLink, a community transport and care organisation, have just expanded their team so that they can deliver services to the community across the Ipswich region.

comlink-logoThe expansion comes following Federal Home and Community Care funding awarded earlier this year in recognition of ComLink’s success and the growing demand for its services.

ComLink provides transport and direct care solutions for the frail aged and younger people with a disability to attend medical appointments, shop and maintain their social inclusion.

With the increase demand, Comlink set about the challenge of establishing offices and hiring 40 staff for their expanding team across Queensland.

ComLink Human Resources Manager, Alexander Payne said the organisation undertook a unique recruitment process of a casting call and group interviews to find candidates that were best suited to ComLink.

“We were looking for a basic skill set when reviewing candidates but it was more important to us to find people who were caring, passionate about our organisation’s work and most importantly people who could build a rapport with our clients,” Alexander said.

ComLink currently has offices on the Sunshine Coast and North Lakes, north of Brisbane, and has just opened new offices in Bundaberg, Ipswich, Cairns, Townsville. Satellite sites in Gympie, Childers and Gin Gin will also be opening soon.

Through its own services and strong links to a variety of community organisations, ComLink is proud to say the organisation never turns anyone needing their services away.  “This is because of the commitment of our staff, volunteers and supporters, “ Alexander said.

ComLink Ipswich Driver, Steve Gardham has been in his role just over five weeks and is enjoying working with the elderly in the community each day.

“I really enjoy picking up clients and taking them to and from their appointments and seeing the smile on their face once I drop them home again. It makes me realise that I’ve really helped them keep their independence,” Steve said.

Steve said that ComLink had provided him with excellent support and training.

“I’ve only been with ComLink for a little while and the support I have received has been great. The comradery between our team here at Ipswich really ensures our clients receive the best possible care,” Steve said.

ComLink’s 40 new staff members mostly hold roles as either Client Service Officers or Drivers, and the community can rest assured that those recruited in the Ipswich region are passionate about providing them with outstanding service.
