‘Classical Cocktails’ event in support of Buderim Foundation 2018 Community Challenge

Longtime Buderim resident and Buderim Foundation Ambassador June Loxton will be reprising her popular and successful Classical Cocktails event on the evening of Saturday 26 May 2018.

June, an accomplished pianist and composer, has assembled some of the Sunshine Coast’s most talented musicians to perform at her home.

Classical Cocktails will offer a range of musical genres and styles, which are sure to entertain.

Sunshine Mitre 10 opening in Bundaberg

In its first foray into the Bundaberg market, Sunshine Mitre 10 is investing with a long term multi-million-dollar commitment to provide the most outstanding hardware retail and trade offer in the region.

The new store in the heart of Bundaberg, at 1 Electra Street, will open with a huge sale on Saturday 26th May employing locals to serve local Builders, Tradies and DIY/Retail customers.

Sunshine Mitre 10 CEO Travis Cunnane said the Coopers Home Hardware site has been completely refurbished.

“Sunshine Mitre10 are investing for the long term, with improvements including new and additional racking to increase our Trade and DIY/Retail product offering, with larger ranges and increased stock levels across all departments,” Mr Cunnane said.

“The company was also working hard to improve the layout to make the store easier to navigate so in both the retail and trade areas you can get in, get what you need and get on with it.”

The new store will feature a new Paint Colour Centre, planned according to the international best practice. We have also invested in the latest range of Power Tools, Outdoor Power Equipment including Stihl & Makita, along with an improved Garden Centre.

“Our new Trade drive through will offer a comprehensive selection of Trade Timber and Sheeting Products in conjunction with the latest ranging of Trade Fasteners and Building Supplies,” Mr Cunnane said.

“Our aim is to be the preferred location in Bundaberg for Builders, Tradies, Handymen and DIYERs alike, with the convenience of undercover trade drive through.

“We will also offer daily site deliveries on our crane truck to Bundaberg and surrounding communities.”

Sunshine Mitre10 is a 108 year old business with 14 sites throughout QLD employing over 380 staff.

“We are proud locals, employing and serving locals and we get involved in the communities in which our stores operate,” Mr Cunnane said.

“This includes having local experts available to provide advice and assistance to both our trade and DIY/Retail customers.

Construction on Westside Private Hospital moves to next stage after ‘topping out’

The Evans Long and Montserrat Hospital joint venture development Westside Private Hospital at Taringa has reached the final stages of construction with the building ‘topping out’.

The ten-storey building at 32 Morrow Street, Taringa, will be home to the new Westside Private Hospital, a short-stay overnight facility operated by Montserrat Hospitals.

The hospital floor will house five operating theatres and three treatment rooms. Two additional floors will provide specialist consulting suites as well as Westside Haemaotogy and Oncology, a new addition to Montserrat Cancer Care Services.

The other floors of the building will include a Guardian Child Care Centre and three floors for the Essence Medi Apartments & Suites, which will offer an affordable out of hospital, yet conveniently located, accommodation option for the surgical and oncology patients before, during and after care.

The two top floors of the building will be luxurious sky homes, with a roof top pool and entertainment area, while at the bottom of the building there will be a café and concierge services, a floor containing Allied Health facilities, and four basement levels of car parking with 185 car spaces. Westside Private will allow 3 hours of free parking providing relief for patients and their family.

The Dock Mooloolaba hosts Local Beer Tap Takeover this weekend

The Wharf Mooloolaba’s newest restaurant and bar, The Dock Mooloolaba has 52 beer taps, with 16 different beers, across three bars and starting this Friday, there will be a Local Tap Takeover, with only local beers to be poured throughout the weekend.

The Dock Mooloolaba owner Jared Hart said the “Local Tap Takeover” will be a celebration of the restaurant’s four-month anniversary, and an opportunity to support and highlight our fantastic local craft breweries.

Central Sippy Downs providing high-tech performance sports training and convenience for locals

Evans Long’s new Central Sippy Downs development will be home to a high-performance athletic training centre as well as being a hub for retail food and allied health.

Buderim Foundation lends support to local families for school expenses

The Buderim Foundation is proud to once again be a part of the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal (FRRR) Back to School Program.  For the 14th year running, the Buderim Foundation is helping local families with school expenses like clothing, shoes and stationery by offering $50 Target vouchers to families who need assistance.

Buderim Foundation Director, Lisa Edward said this year, a total of 229 vouchers will be distributed. A total of $8,950 in vouchers were provided by the FRRR, $1,500 from Buderim Lions and $1,000 from Buderim Rotary.

“We provide the vouchers to local schools, as well as SunnyKids who distribute these ensuring the families and children in the greatest need obtain the most benefit from the program, whilst maintaining their privacy.

Buderim Foundation hosts Youth Summit to promote philanthropy

Student leaders from six Sunshine Coast schools will come together for the second annual Buderim Foundation Youth Summit to promote life-long philanthropy among Sunshine Coast youth.

Buderim Foundation Youth Committee chair, Graham Tamblyn said the Summit was part of the Foundation’s Youth Philanthropy Project, which aims to introduce the concept of Philanthropy and its value to the community to young people, inspiring them to adopt it throughout their lives.
