The first Musos 4 Mates @ The Dock Mooloolaba fundraiser on Tuesday night was a huge success with more than 18 local musicians performing for a crowd of about 400 people throughout the night, raising more than $2600 for the nominated recipient, friend Cheryl, a wife and mum of four who was diagnosed with cervical cancer for the second time and is unable to work while undergoing treatment.
The funds were raised thanks to beer sales from charity kegs donated by Stone & Wood and the Ale House as well as from donations and a raffle with prizes including Dock Mooloolaba dining vouchers and a great Tanglewood Guitar donated by Mooloolaba Music Centre.
Organisers musician John Veloso and Dock Mooloolaba owner Jared Hart wanted to thank everyone involved for their support, from all the amazing musicians who donated their time to everyone who came along and enjoyed the night with Cheryl, her husband Sean and their friends.
The plan is to host a number of Musos 4 Mates events every year, with different Sunshine Coast charities and causes to be the beneficiaries for each event.
